EXTENSION 54, KEMPTON PARK
The developer of this industrial park identified its strategic value due to its proximity to the O.R. Tambo International Airport and targeted international companies with a profound interest not only in South Africa per sè but also as a stepping stone into the wider Africa beyond its borders.
The area of the township is 33,8 ha subdivided into 8 stands of varying size (4 ha per stand on average).
VIP Consulting Engineers was appointed to negotiate with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality the parameters for and extend of internal services, link services and bulk services.
Once this was fixed, designs to comply were completed, a contractor appointed and the works executed.
Key quantities were:
- Water Supply Mains - 2 200m
- Stormwater drains - 2 400m
- Sewerage Reticulations and Outfall Sewer – 1560m
- Streets - 13 340m²
- Upgrading of the R23-R21 intersection on- and off ramps.
All works were completed satisfactorily and on time and more than 50% of the stands have been taken up by purchasers and/or long term tenants.
Further similar developments have already started on adjoining land.
